Death by vacation, a “sinking feeling” in Mexico and…..

1. “Death by Vacation” — say what?!:   According to at least two online newspapers, Bruce Beresford-Redman, co producer of the shows “Pimp my Ride” and some past episodes of “Survivor”, has been detained in Mexico as a person-of-interest in the death recently of his wife, Monica Beresford-Redman — in Cancun, Mexico…  Reportedly sometime before the death, a security guard at the hotel where they were staying observed the husband and wife in a  heated/physical argument, and other hotel guests reported to the management disruptive noise coming from the couple’s hotel room…  [Photo from AP/LOS ANGELES TIMES…   http://www.twincities.com/news/ci_14848748?source=rss  http://www.sunstar.com.ph/network/producer-detained-after-death-wife-mexico-1253-pm

2.  Go ahead, “make my day“, registra el teléfono:  To help fight the criminal element, the Mexican government apparently has a program requiring all non registered cell phones to be registered, or else the owners will be fined…  http://www.ciol.com/Global-News/Global-News/News-Reports/Mexico-may-cut-millions-of-cellphones-to-fight-crime/134592/0/

3.  Mexico City has a sinking feeling, literally:   having been built on a lake bed since before the arrival of the Spaniards, the sinking feeling (not about the song) is getting worse…   Efforts are being made to make corrections because sewer lines and buildings are continually at greater and greater risk…  http://www.usatoday.com/NEWS/usaedition/2010-04-09-sinkingcity09_ST_U.htm?csp=34

4.  Careful, the News can be deadly, too, really!:   because some news reporters publicize the activities in which the leaders and foot soldiers of drug cartels are involved, they have been killed…   To avoid the danger, some newspapers no longer cover events related to the drug problem or to people involved in it, in order to save their reporters.  Law enforcement agencies seem to be unable to protect the journalists…  http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/world/6950555.html

5.  Problems in Mexico, but some reported bright spots —  altho’ tourism in Mexico is down overall, apparently there are up-and-coming touristy areas, such as Loreto…   ttp://www.bajaoutpost.com/broadband/broadband.html/?source=goto

  1. With the violence in Mexico due to the drug problems, the country does not need murders committed by people from other countries.

It’s a shame that journalists are being killed simply for doing their job.
