The Stockholm Syndrome in America: en masse, 2010

For any who might not know to what the title refers, the “… Stockholm syndrome is a term used to describe a paradoxical psychological phenomenon wherein hostages express adulation and have positive feelings towards their captors that appear irrational in light of the danger or risk endured by the victims.  The FBI’s Hostage Barricade Database System shows that roughly 27% of victims show evidence of Stockholm syndrome.“[from Wikipedia]

Metaphorically, that seems to be the case in which many in America and the world find themselves — captives, kidnapped, their minds hijacked by a peculiar political viewpoint foisted upon those who have difficulty being independent thinkers, those who, regrettably, unconditionally believe whatever the dominant mass news media tells them…

Another way of putting it is that some have allowed themselves to be led to believe that what is up is down, and down is up…  You get the picture…

Israel is trying to keep rockets and other items from entering the Gaza strip so that its people can be safe from attack, and under international law exercises its right of self-defense by establishing a blockade —  in order to ascertain that certain items do not enter Gaza…   And the typical national and world press, and a significant degree of the national and world population ( because they are hostages to a particular viewpoint), condemn or severely criticize American ally Israel — which is being threatened with annihilation… What is actually up, is seen as down…

Arizona attempts to have border security laws enforced by passing a state law that simply complements federal law, and its people are called “racist“, “white supremacists” — and the federal government, as well as some other states and municipalities, and news organizations and politicians, undertake actions and words to try to punish Arizona for trying to enforce laws!…  Again, hostages — what is up, is seen as down…

The School Board of Los Angeles , California, reportedly, even has passed a resolution directed to the superintendent and teachers of the district that strongly encourages teachers to include in their lesson plans that the Arizona law against illegal immigration is as vile as slavery, the holocaust, the Japanese Internment, and other such historical episodes…  Absurd

The Stockholm Syndrome, en masse, is alive and well, sorry to say, in America…  How many people are suffering from the delusion, to the detriment of the country?…. How many in America have been taken hostage, how many have been brainwashed?

The Stockholm Syndrome is alive and well within how many?…  Remains to be seen in the months to come…

  1. George got the date a bit wrong, but he sure pegged the slogan:

“War is Peace,” “Freedom is Slavery,” “Ignorance is Strength.”

We seem to be getting closer and closer each year to living the novel…

Nice site PanAm. Excellent content. I will add it to the HM Blog Roll and check back often.

  2. That or the Newspeak of 1984..?

  3. Yes… Strange behavior… What is up, they say is down, what is down, they see it as up… Inconsistent… Hostages to convoluted thought… Maybe it’s all like “Lewis Carroll’s” Alice in Wonderland.

  4. I have a friend who is a social worker in Los Angeles County. Mexican citizen, lives here legally.Has no desire to return to Mexico and live out her life among “her people.” She told me, 10 years ago, that she is not safe in Mexico. Her fear stems from the “kidnappings for ransom” that is so common in Mexico City. Yet, I noticed her blog is advocating open borders between Mexico and the USA. Is she being emotional and wishing that the influence of western living will negate the negatives associated with criminal activities that she fears? Criminal are in business because they have a supply of victims. If those victims move to another place, if follows the criminals will as well. The social order in Mexico has reached the “tipping point.” Relocation will be necessary for Mexican organized crime; guess where?
The “open border” advocates are not scientifically reasoning through this scenario. ..If this, then that.
